The original Cavern Club in
Liverpool, England, was where the legendary Beatles played before they became
world famous in the early 1960's. It was destroyed to make space for a car
park. In the 1980's it was rebuilt just ten metres away. Last month. Paul
Mc-Cartney, one of the three surviving Beatles, played there once again,
accompanied by Dave Gilmour of Pink Floyd and lan Pace of Deep Purple, among
others. For the concert, seventy-five pairs of tickets were given away in five
record shops |

around the country.
Another pair was auctioned* on the internet, raising thousands of pounds for
the Linda McCartney Cancer Centre. The rest of the audience consisted of
Journalists and Paul's friends and family. 7,000 watched the concert on a giant
TV screen 500 metres from the club, while others watched it on television or
via the internet. The fifty minute set consisted of rock and roll music, and
audience requests like Yesterday - were firmly rejected. |
